Electronic records (ER) are recorded information that is recorded in a form that requires a computer or other machine to process it. Includes word processing documents; electronic mail messages; documents released under the Electronic Freedom of Information Act amendments; documents transmitted via Electronic Data Interchange; Internet and intranet postings; numerical and textual spreadsheets and databases; electronic files; optical images; software; and information systems.
