Inactive Records
Inactive records, sometimes referred to as noncurrent records, are records that are referred to infrequently (perhaps less than once a month per file drawer). If not of a permanent nature, they are often candidates for transfer to a low-cost storage facility or conversion to another format until their retention period expires. This subject area includes material on the management of inactive records, guidelines for off-site storage, transfer protocols, selection of an off-site storage provider, outfitting an inactive records center, forms, policies, software management tools, equipment and supply needs, program evaluation, etc.
